Vetting Disruption: Minority officially calls for the removal of Ad-Hoc Committee chairman.

Minority Demands Removal of Ad-Hoc Committee Chairman Over Alleged Bias

The Minority in Parliament has officially called for the removal of Emmanuel Bedzrah, the MP for Ho West, as Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Committee investigating the January 30, 2025, vetting chaos during ministerial nominations.

Their request follows accusations from Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who claims Bedzrah has shown bias and lacks impartiality. As a result, the Minority has refused to participate in the committee’s proceedings until their concerns are addressed.

In a memorandum, Effutu MP Afenyo-Markin emphasized the need to wait for Speaker Alban Bagbin’s response before engaging with the committee. He clarified that this stance should not be seen as an attempt to obstruct the process but rather as a necessary step to uphold fairness and credibility.

The Minority remains hopeful that the Speaker will intervene to ensure the integrity of the committee and Parliament as a whole.

However, Bedzrah has firmly rejected the accusations, dismissing them as baseless.

Despite the controversy, Afenyo-Markin and his caucus members are expected to appear before the committee today, Monday, February 10.
