Semenyo Lifts Carabao Cup, Becomes Second Ghanaian to Win Prestigious Trophy

Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo has secured the first major silverware of his professional career after playing a role in Manchester City’s victory over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final.

The 26-year-old attacker, who completed a move to the English champions during the winter transfer window, has enjoyed a dream start to life at his new club. In just a few months, he has gone from settling into a new squad to celebrating a major domestic triumph, marking an unforgettable debut season in City colours.

Semenyo’s achievement places him in a select group of Ghanaian footballers who have lifted the League Cup. He becomes only the second player from Ghana to win the competition, following Michael Essien’s success with Chelsea during the 2006/07 campaign.

The triumph crowns what has been a remarkable rise for the forward. Prior to his move, Semenyo impressed with his pace, strength, and attacking versatility during his time at AFC Bournemouth, performances that ultimately earned him the switch to one of Europe’s most dominant teams. Since arriving, he has continued to elevate his game, contributing to City’s attacking depth and intensity.

For Ghanaian fans, the victory is another proud moment on the international stage, highlighting the growing impact of the country’s players in top European competitions. With his first major trophy now secured, Semenyo will be eager to build on this success and cement his place as a key figure for both club and country in the seasons ahead.
