Prez Mahama Heads to South Korea for Key Talks and Strategic Engagements

President John Dramani Mahama is set to embark on a five-day working visit to South Korea from March 10 to March 14, 2026, where he will hold high-level meetings and participate in several official engagements aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

According to an official statement, the President will depart Accra on Sunday to begin the visit.

During the trip, President Mahama will hold a bilateral meeting with South Korea’s President, Lee Jae Myung, where discussions are expected to focus on expanding diplomatic, economic, and technological collaboration between Ghana and South Korea. He will also meet with the Speaker of the Korean National Assembly, Woo Won-shik, as part of efforts to deepen parliamentary relations.

One of the major highlights of the visit will be the President’s participation in a ship-naming ceremony at the Hyundai Shipyard in Ulsan. The ceremony underscores Ghana’s growing engagement with global maritime and industrial partners.

The President will also visit Yonsei University, where he is scheduled to deliver remarks during a conferment ceremony.

The statement noted that President Mahama will also engage members of the Ghanaian community in South Korea. He is expected to spend “an evening with Ghanaians living, studying, and working in South Korea,” providing an opportunity to interact with the diaspora and discuss national development.

In addition, the President will attend a dinner meeting with chief executives and business owners to explore investment opportunities and strengthen economic ties between Ghana and South Korea.

The working visit is expected to further deepen the relationship between the two nations while opening new opportunities for collaboration in trade, education, and industry.
