President John Dramani Mahama is set to embark on a three-day State Visit to the Republic of Zambia from February 4 to 6, 2026, following an invitation from his Zambian counterpart, President Hakainde Hichilema.
The President will be accompanied by First Lady, Her Excellency Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, as part of a high-level Ghanaian delegation.
During the visit, President Mahama is expected to hold bilateral talks with President Hichilema, focusing on issues of mutual interest, including the strengthening of diplomatic ties, expanding trade and investment cooperation, and exploring collaborative opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.
A major highlight of the State Visit will be President Mahama’s address to the National Assembly of Zambia, where he is expected to outline Ghana’s vision for a more integrated, prosperous, and economically resilient Africa. He will also engage with members of the Ghanaian community in Lusaka, interacting with compatriots living and working in Zambia.
As part of efforts to deepen economic relations between the two countries, Presidents Mahama and Hichilema will jointly co-chair a Ghana-Zambia Business Dialogue. The forum will serve as a platform for Ghana to showcase its digital innovations and fintech services to Zambian businesses and government institutions, aimed at fostering partnerships and promoting knowledge exchange.
The State Visit underscores President Mahama’s continued commitment to his vision of an Africa that is seamlessly connected through improved transport infrastructure, expanded trade networks, and the free movement of people and goods. He remains a strong advocate for the accelerated implementation of the AfCFTA, which he believes is essential for transforming African economies, creating sustainable jobs for the continent’s growing youth population, and enhancing Africa’s competitiveness on the global stage.
Ahead of the Zambia visit, President Mahama will depart Accra on Sunday, February 1, 2026, for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, at the invitation of His Highness the Ruler of the UAE, to participate in the World Governments Summit 2026, scheduled from February 2 to 4.
The President will travel aboard a special aircraft provided by the Ruler of the UAE, which will also convey him and his delegation from Dubai to Zambia to commence the State Visit.
