Over 20 Pupils Hospitalised After Collapsing in School at Prampram

Pampram Polyclinic

More than 20 pupils from Prampram D/A Basic ‘B’ and Methodist Freeman Basic School have been hospitalised after collapsing during class hours on Monday. The alarming incident saw several children running in distress before suddenly collapsing, prompting swift emergency response.

The affected students were rushed to the Prampram Polyclinic, where they are currently receiving medical attention. Health personnel at the facility have confirmed that the children are under close observation as investigations into the cause of the mass incident continue.

Preliminary findings suggest that the pupils may have consumed asana, a local corn-based beverage sold by a vendor in the vicinity of the school. The said vendor has also been hospitalised, raising further concerns about the safety of the drink.

The Ningo-Prampram District Health Directorate has launched an investigation in collaboration with school authorities and parents to determine the exact cause of the pupils’ collapse and to ensure the wellbeing of other students.

Officials have assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to prevent a recurrence and to guarantee the safety of schoolchildren in the district.
