Otto Addo Names Black Stars Squad for Austria and Germany Friendlies

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has announced his squad for this month’s international friendlies against Austria and Germany as Ghana steps up preparations for upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Four players have received their maiden call-ups to the national team Derrick Luckassen, Patrick Pfeiffer, Marvin Senaya, and Daniel Agyei as the technical team seeks to assess fresh talent ahead of crucial matches.

Luckassen, a centre-back who plays for Cypriot champions Pafos FC, brings extensive European experience. A product of AZ Alkmaar’s academy, he has featured for clubs such as PSV, Hertha BSC, Anderlecht, Kasımpaşa, Fatih Karagümrük, and Maccabi Tel Aviv. He recently helped Pafos win the 2024–25 Cypriot league title and also scored the club’s first-ever UEFA Champions League goal.

Marvin Senaya earns his call-up following solid performances for French Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre. Since making his professional debut in 2021, he has also played for Strasbourg, Sochaux, and Lausanne-Sport, establishing himself as a reliable defensive option.

Daniel Agyei adds attacking depth to the squad. The England-born forward currently plays for Turkish club Kocaelispor after spells with Leyton Orient, Crewe Alexandra, Oxford United, and Burnley before moving to Turkey.

Patrick Pfeiffer, a commanding defender, joins from German second-tier side Darmstadt 98, where his consistent displays at the back have drawn attention from the national team selectors.

The two friendlies are expected to provide a strong test for the Black Stars against top European opposition while giving the coaching staff an opportunity to evaluate new combinations ahead of competitive fixtures later in the year
