The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has acknowledged a lawsuit filed by Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta, contesting his previous designation as a wanted person and fugitive from justice. In response, the OSP has temporarily removed his name from its list of wanted persons on the condition that he appears for questioning on a set date.
According to an official press release from the OSP, Mr. Ofori-Atta formally requested that his name be removed, assuring the authorities that he would be available for interrogation. The OSP, acting on this assurance, granted the request pending his mandatory appearance on June 2, 2025.
However, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, has made it clear that failure to comply will result in Mr. Ofori-Atta being re-listed as a fugitive, prompting the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice for his arrest and the initiation of extradition proceedings if he is found in another jurisdiction.
The OSP reiterated its commitment to upholding the rule of law, emphasizing that Mr. Ofori-Atta remains the prime suspect in five ongoing corruption-related investigations.
