NSA Rolls Out E-Certificates as Part of Digital Service Reforms

The National Service Authority (NSA) has begun the nationwide rollout of electronic certificates for National Service Personnel, providing a faster and more convenient way for graduates to access proof of service completion. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to digitise public service delivery and improve documentation and verification processes.

In its announcement, the Authority indicated that “the e-certificates have officially been released,” making them accessible to all eligible personnel through the NSA portal. Personnel can now “access and download e-certificates through https://posting.gnsa.gov.gh/home/certificate-service, in accordance with the approved procedures provided on the platform.”

The Authority explained that the digital certificates are available not only to personnel who recently completed their service but also to past service personnel who may need replacements or electronic copies of their certificates. Such individuals can apply directly on the NSA portal, where the service is provided at a prescribed fee. The NSA clarified that the process is optional, stressing that it is “an optional digital service, not compulsory.”

As part of the same announcement, the Authority revealed that the Annual Evaluation Forms for the 2024/2025 service year have also been uploaded onto the portal. All service personnel within the current batch are required to download, complete, and submit the forms, duly endorsed, to their respective District National Service Offices.

The NSA further noted that personnel serving in the 2024/2025 service year must submit an approved Annual Evaluation Form before gaining access to their e-certificate. This requirement is aimed at ensuring compliance with service regulations and maintaining accurate personnel records across the country.

To guide applicants, the Authority outlined the procedure for accessing the e-certificate. Personnel must first submit an online request using their National Service details and await approval, which may take “up to five working days.” Upon approval, applicants are notified via SMS or email and are required to make payment before proceeding.

Applicants must then complete a Know Your Customer (KYC) verification process by entering their Ghana Card details and taking a live facial photograph using their device’s camera. Once the verification is successful, the e-certificate can be downloaded directly from the portal. The Authority assured that “these steps are clearly outlined on the certificate service page of the NSA portal.”

The National Service Authority has urged all eligible personnel to strictly follow the outlined procedures to ensure a seamless process. It has also called on employers, institutions, and other stakeholders to fully recognise and accept e-certificates issued by the Authority.

The NSA added that any organisation seeking additional verification may contact the Authority through its official communication channels. The introduction of e-certificates is expected to reduce processing delays, enhance document security, and make certificate verification more efficient for employers and institutions nationwide.
