Mahama Unveils “Nkukor Nkitikiti” Project Will Boost Poultry Industry and Cut Imports – SONA
Parliament of Ghana -President John Mahama has announced the impact of the “Nkukor Nkitikiti” project, a large-scale initiative aimed at boosting Ghana’s poultry industry while reducing the country’s dependence on chicken imports.
Speaking during the State of the Nation Address (SONA), Mahama revealed that the project will cover 55,000 homes and play a crucial role in slashing the $3 million spent annually on poultry imports.
“This initiative is designed to empower local farmers, increase domestic poultry production, and strengthen food security,” Mahama stated.
In addition to poultry farming, the President also highlighted plans to implement greenhouse projects to enhance vegetable cultivation and modernize Ghana’s agricultural sector.
The Nkukor Nkitikiti project is expected to create jobs, support rural economies, and position Ghana as a leader in sustainable agriculture. The government aims to provide technical support, funding, and infrastructure to ensure its success.
With this initiative, Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to reducing Ghana’s reliance on imports and promoting self-sufficiency in food production.
