NDC Does Not Take Wenchi Votes for Granted – Asiedu Nketia Assures Residents on Bono “Thank You” Tour

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has assured residents of Wenchi that the party deeply appreciates the confidence reposed in it during the December 2024 general elections and does not take their support for granted.

He acknowledged the strong showing of the NDC in both the presidential and parliamentary polls in the Wenchi Constituency, describing the outcome as a clear demonstration of the people’s trust in the party’s vision.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia gave the assurance while addressing community leaders and party supporters at Nkonsia in the Wenchi Constituency as part of his two-day “Thank You” tour of the Bono Region. The tour, which began in the Wenchi Municipality, is aimed at engaging stakeholders and strengthening the party’s relationship with communities across the region.

Commending the people of Wenchi for their massive support, he urged them to continue rallying behind the NDC to help drive development and restore the area to its former glory. He stressed that reviving Wenchi’s prominence is a collective responsibility, adding that although the task may be demanding, it requires determination and unity.

Touching on infrastructure, Mr. Nketia noted that the government is aware of the poor state of roads in the area and has taken steps to address the challenge. He revealed that contracts have been awarded for the Wenchi–Wa Road, the Wenchi–Sampa Road has been captured under the government’s “Big Push” initiative, and the Nsawkaw–Berekum Road has also been included. According to him, the completion of these projects will significantly transform the area and improve connectivity with other parts of the region.

The Member of Parliament for the Wenchi Constituency, Alhaji Haruna Seidu, said the constituency has seen remarkable improvements within just one year of the current administration, citing ongoing development efforts.

The Wenchi Akyeamehene, Nana Damoah Koasane Adusi Poku Kafabaae IV, also commended the government for its development initiatives and appealed for greater focus on youth employment to boost socio-economic development in the constituency.
