Nana Akomea Commends SDA Church for Decision to Participate in 2024 Elections

Nana Akomea, Deputy Chairman of the campaign team for New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has praised the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church for their decision to participate in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.

The SDA Church had earlier petitioned the Electoral Commission to reconsider the practice of holding elections on Saturdays, which coincide with their Sabbath. While the Electoral Commission acknowledged the petition, it clarified that any changes to the election date would only take effect in 2028.

Initially, the SDA Church announced its decision to abstain from voting in this year’s elections. However, the church has since rescinded that decision, urging its members to participate in the electoral process.

Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show, Nana Akomea commended the church’s resolve, emphasizing the importance of their participation. “I am happy they have decided to exercise their franchise,” he remarked.

The SDA Church’s move is expected to encourage broader civic engagement as the nation approaches a critical electoral period.
