Former five-weight world champion Floyd Mayweather will take part in an exhibition bout against Greek kickboxing veteran Mike Zambidis in June, as he prepares for his highly anticipated rematch with Manny Pacquiao later this year.
Mayweather, 49, confirmed that he will fight Zambidis in Athens as part of his build-up to the September showdown with Pacquiao. The rematch is scheduled for Saturday, 19 September at the Sphere in Las Vegas and will be broadcast live on Netflix. The bout revisits their 2015 clash, widely billed as the “Fight of the Century,” which became the richest fight in boxing history.
The American boxing legend recently announced he would come out of retirement for a fourth time, marking his first professional boxing appearance in nine years.
“2026 is already shaping up to be an exciting year for me,” Mayweather wrote on Instagram. “I’m on the way to entertain. Athens, Greece, get ready. This summer will be a legendary battle.”
Zambidis, 45, is a seasoned kickboxer with a professional record of 157 wins and 24 losses, including 87 knockouts. His last official fight took place in June 2015.
Mayweather has not competed in a professional bout since defeating former UFC champion Conor McGregor by 10th-round technical knockout in 2017. His upcoming exhibition in Greece is expected to serve as preparation for what promises to be another high-profile encounter with Pacquiao.
