Manchester United threw the Premier League title race wide open after ending Arsenal’s unbeaten home run with a dramatic 3–2 victory, while Aston Villa, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest all claimed crucial wins that reshaped both ends of the table.
At the Emirates, Arsenal looked set to continue their dominance at home when they took an early lead through an unfortunate Lisandro Martínez own goal. The advantage, however, was short-lived. United responded with urgency and composure, drawing level after Bryan Mbeumo punished a defensive lapse involving Martin Zubimendi.
The visitors grew in confidence and took control shortly after the break when Patrick Dorgu produced a brilliant strike to put United ahead. Arsenal struggled to break United down from open play but showed their fighting spirit late on, restoring parity in the 84th minute as Mikel Merino forced the ball home from a corner.
Just as the hosts appeared to have rescued a point, Matheus Cunha stunned the Emirates with a superb long-range effort, sealing a famous win for United. The result marked Arsenal’s first home defeat of the season and lifted United into the top four for the first time in three years. A visibly disappointed Mikel Arteta admitted the loss was painful but urged support for his players as the title race intensifies.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa reignited their title ambitions with a historic 2–0 victory over Newcastle at St. James’ Park their first win at the venue in 21 years. Emiliano Buendía opened the scoring with a powerful long-range strike before Ollie Watkins sealed the result late on with a well-timed header from a Lucas Digne cross. The win moved Villa level on points with Manchester City and within touching distance of the league leaders, prompting manager Unai Emery to declare his side firmly in the title conversation.
Chelsea also impressed with a commanding 3–1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, extending the hosts’ winless run to 11 matches. A defensive error gifted Estevao the opening goal, setting the tone for the match. João Pedro doubled Chelsea’s lead after halftime, and Enzo Fernández wrapped up the victory from the penalty spot. It marked Chelsea’s fourth win in five games under new manager Liam Rosenior, highlighting their growing momentum.
At the bottom end of the table, Nottingham Forest boosted their survival hopes with a vital 2–0 away win against Brentford. Goals from Igor Jesus and Taiwo Awoniyi handed the Bees just their second home defeat of the season and moved Forest five points clear of the relegation zone.
With shocks at the top and crucial wins at the bottom, the Premier League delivered another weekend of high drama and the title race is now more open than ever.
