“Let’s Come Together as One People” – Ken Agyapong Concedes Defeat

New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has accepted the outcome of the party’s presidential primary, urging his supporters to remain calm and committed to party unity.

Speaking to journalists after provisional results showed former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia leading the race with more than 55 per cent of the votes, Mr Agyapong said he was not surprised by the outcome, noting that he had prepared himself for either victory or defeat.

“I am a veteran politician, so I know. I have gone through several defeats, so I cushion myself and expected the worst, and the worst has happened,” he said, adding that defeat should not be seen as the end of the road.

He cautioned supporters against using the results to attack others within the party, stressing that unity was crucial for the NPP’s future.

“Once they have decided, let’s all come together as party members and work together. You should all relax,” Mr Agyapong urged.

The outspoken lawmaker reminded his followers that politics is a long journey and that circumstances can change with time.

“We have three years to go. Who knows what will happen? So I want you to be patient,” he stated.

Mr Agyapong also appealed to supporters not to withdraw their support from the party, noting that the same spirit of tolerance would have been expected from others if the results had gone in his favour.

“If it had been Ken, what would other contestants and supporters have said? Let’s come together as one people,” he said.

He concluded by encouraging supporters to remain hopeful and composed, expressing confidence that the future would unfold positively.
