KNUST Second-Year Student Dies After Falling From Off-Campus Hostel

A second-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Mr. Ransford Amankwah Asomani, has died following a fall from the second floor of his off-campus hostel in Ayeduase.

The unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, February 8, 2026. Mr. Asomani, who was pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness Management, was rushed to the KNUST Hospital by his colleagues with assistance from the KNUST District Police Patrol Team. Sadly, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

KNUST Management confirmed the incident in an official statement, describing the loss as deeply saddening. The university said Mr. Asomani’s parents have been informed, and his body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.

“Management is deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident and extends heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Ransford Amankwah Asomani and the entire University community,” the statement said.

The university further disclosed that the KNUST Police, working in collaboration with university security services, have commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Management assured the public that further updates would be provided once all relevant facts are established.
