The Ministry of the Interior and National Security has confirmed reports of a terrorist attack in Burkina Faso involving a truck transporting Ghanaian tomato traders.
In a press statement signed by the Minister for the Interior and National Security, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the government described the development as disturbing and expressed concern over the safety of the traders.
According to the statement, the incident occurred in Titao on Saturday, February 14, 2026. The truck carrying the Ghanaian traders was reportedly caught up in the attack, raising fears about the condition of those on board.
“The Government of Ghana has received disturbing information from Burkina Faso of a truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana, which was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao,” the release said.
The incident comes amid heightened insecurity across parts of the Sahel region, where terrorist attacks have become increasingly frequent in recent years. Ghanaian authorities say they are monitoring the situation closely and are seeking further details about the affected traders.
