Gov’t  Targets Agribusiness Transformation Through Innovation at Agrotech Fair 2026

The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to transforming Ghana’s agribusiness sector through the strategic use of innovation and technology.

She explained that the move forms part of broader national efforts to close the long-standing gap between the country’s vast agricultural potential and its current performance.

Speaking at the opening of the three-day Ghana Agrotech Fair 2026 at Black Star Square on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the Minister described the event as a deliberate step toward repositioning agriculture as a modern, technology-driven industry.

According to her, the fair sends a clear message that Ghana is ready to embrace innovation as the engine for agricultural growth.

“Through this fair, we are sending a strong signal to use innovation and technology to drive the agribusiness sector,” she stated.

Mrs Ofosu-Adjare noted that her Ministry is prioritising agribusiness development as a key tool for unlocking value across the entire agricultural chain while stimulating economic growth and job creation.

She added that the fair brings together a wide spectrum of players within Ghana’s agricultural innovation ecosystem, including local manufacturers, agritech startups, and research institutions.

Over the three days, exhibitors are expected to showcase homegrown machinery, digital farming solutions, and research-based innovations developed to address real challenges facing the sector.

“Local manufacturers will showcase the machinery they have built, agritech startups will demonstrate the digital tools they have developed, and research institutions will present solutions refined over years of dedicated work,” she said.

The Minister further emphasised that the event will provide farmers with practical technologies capable of boosting productivity, reducing post-harvest losses, and expanding access to both local and international markets.

She also highlighted the fair as an opportunity for innovators and investors to recognise the vast potential within Ghana’s agriculture sector.

“It will present farmers with technologies that can transform their yields, reduce their losses, and connect them to markets they never would have accessed. Inventors will also see that there are opportunities in Ghana’s agriculture sector that are as vast as they are compelling,” she added.
