Ghana Approves Passport for Internet Star IShowSpeed

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that the Government of Ghana has officially approved the issuance of a Ghanaian passport to popular international internet personality IShowSpeed.

The announcement was made via a Facebook post addressed to renowned Ghanaian YouTuber Wode Maya, following discussions surrounding IShowSpeed’s Ghanaian heritage.

“Following our discussions and subsequent confirmation of the irrefutable ties of IShowSpeed to Ghana, I am pleased to inform you and our compatriots that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has approved the issuance of a Ghanaian Passport to IShowSpeed,” Ablakwa stated.

He further encouraged Wode Maya for his role in promoting Ghana globally, adding,

“Keep making our great nation Ghana, and our beloved African continent proud.”

In his message, the Foreign Affairs Minister also highlighted Ghana’s recognition of digital creators as cultural ambassadors, noting that both Wode Maya and IShowSpeed have played significant roles in projecting Ghana’s image internationally.

“Ghana celebrates you both, you remain our worthy ambassadors, and we are ever so delighted to have granted you a diplomatic passport last year. For God, Country & Continent,” he added.

The development follows a recent revelation by IShowSpeed during a live stream, where he disclosed that his mother is Ghanaian an announcement that further strengthened his connection to the country and sparked widespread excitement among Ghanaian fans.
