GFA President Kurt Okraku Elected to CAF Executive Committee

The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has been elected to the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), securing a position on the continent’s top football governing body.

In January 2025, Mr. Okraku filed his nomination to contest for a seat on the CAF Executive Committee as the representative of WAFU Zone B. Running unopposed, he was automatically confirmed for the role and will serve a four-year term from 2025 to 2029 on the 24-member committee, which is responsible for shaping policies and decisions regarding the development of football across Africa.

A Strategic Position for Ghana Football

Mr. Okraku’s election to the CAF Executive Committee is expected to enhance Ghana’s influence in African football governance, offering the country a stronger voice in key decision-making processes at the continental level. His new position also presents an opportunity for the GFA to advocate for progressive reforms and developmental initiatives in African football.

The former Dreams FC Executive Chairman has led Ghanaian football since October 2019 and later assumed leadership of WAFU Zone B in 2023. His steady rise in football administration has now positioned him among the top football executives on the continent.

Ghana’s Legacy in CAF Leadership

With his appointment, Mr. Okraku joins a distinguished list of Ghanaian football administrators who have served on the CAF Executive Committee, including:

His tenure is expected to further Ghana’s football ambitions and strengthen the country’s role in shaping the future of African football governance.
