The Ghana Revenue Authority has interdicted five officers of its Customs Division with immediate effect as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged procedural breaches.
In a statement, the Authority said the decision followed initial findings from an enforcement operation conducted on February 18, 2026, involving a consignment of transit goods declared for onward transportation to Niger. The exercise uncovered inconsistencies in documentation and lapses in adherence to approved transit procedures.
“Management of the Ghana Revenue Authority has interdicted five officers of the Customs Division pending the outcome of an internal investigation,” the statement said. Preliminary reviews suggest potential procedural infractions that require a thorough and independent inquiry.
The investigation aims to determine the full circumstances of the transaction, including the responsibility of any officers involved and any deviations from established Customs processes. The probe may be expanded if necessary, with other officers called upon to assist. Appropriate administrative actions will follow once the investigation is complete, in line with relevant laws and regulations.
The GRA emphasised that the interdictions reflect its commitment to protecting national revenue, supporting local industries, and promoting broader economic development. The Authority also reaffirmed its dedication to professionalism, integrity, and accountability in revenue collection and enforcement as the internal review continues.
