FIFA Auditors Begin 2025 Central Review of Ghana Football Association

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has officially commenced its 2025 Central Review of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), with auditing firm EY Switzerland leading the process.

The annual exercise, known as the FIFA Central Review, is conducted across all member associations to assess financial reporting and compliance with FIFA regulations. Each year, FIFA appoints an independent audit firm to carry out the review.

Last week, officials of the GFA held a kick-off meeting with the FIFA-appointed auditors to discuss the audit plan and outline expectations for the process. Following the meeting, the Association submitted all required financial documents and supporting files for assessment.

The auditors are expected in Ghana in the coming days to undertake a detailed review of the GFA’s financial accounts for the 2025 FIFA financial year, which runs from January 1 to December 31, 2025.

Under FIFA regulations, member associations are required to submit their financial reports by the end of the first quarter of the year. The Central Review is then conducted in the second quarter. Failure to meet reporting deadlines can attract financial sanctions.

The GFA’s submission includes detailed reports on the utilisation of FIFA Forward Funds received during the period under review.

Since the resumption of football activities in Ghana following the Normalisation Committee era, the GFA has recorded six consecutive successful FIFA Central Reviews  covering the 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 financial years.

Welcoming the audit team, the Association reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and pledged full cooperation to ensure another successful review within FIFA’s stipulated timelines.
