The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced a shortage of presidential and parliamentary ballot papers in five constituencies within the Volta Region. The affected areas include Keta, Ketu North, Ho Central, Hohoe, and Ho West.
In response, the EC has initiated measures to address the issue by arranging for additional ballots to be printed at Acts Commercials Printing House in Accra. An official communication sent to representatives of all presidential candidates outlined the Commission’s plan to rectify the situation swiftly, ensuring the ballots will be available before election day.
To uphold transparency, the EC has invited all political parties and independent candidates to designate two representatives each to oversee the printing process. This move aims to provide independent verification and assurance that the printing adheres to legal requirements.
The observation exercise is scheduled for Friday, November 29, at 10:00 AM. Samuel Tettey, the EC’s Deputy Chairman of Operations, reassured the public that the Commission is taking all necessary precautions to safeguard the integrity of the election.
Mr. Tettey reiterated the EC’s unwavering commitment to conducting a free, fair, and credible election, emphasizing that resolving the ballot shortage promptly remains a top priority to ensure the electoral process proceeds without disruption.
