Ghana’s Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has been honoured as the Most Outstanding African Finance Minister of the Year 2025 at the Africa Development Council (ADC) African Leadership Ratings and Awards.
The award, presented under the prestigious Order of the Star Awards category, recognises exceptional leadership and outstanding performance across critical sectors on the African continent.
According to the Africa Development Council, Dr Forson earned the recognition for his strong commitment to fiscal discipline, macroeconomic stabilisation, and far-reaching public finance reforms aimed at steering Ghana toward sustainable economic recovery. His policy direction and stewardship of the nation’s finances have played a key role in restoring confidence in the Ghanaian economy while laying a solid foundation for long-term growth.
Since assuming office, the Finance Minister has championed prudent spending measures, strengthened revenue mobilisation, and rolled out reforms designed to improve transparency and efficiency in public financial management. These efforts, the ADC noted, have enhanced budget credibility, supported inflation control, and promoted responsible debt management as part of broader economic rebuilding efforts.
The ADC African Leadership Ratings and Awards celebrate individuals and institutions that demonstrate excellence, innovation, and measurable impact in governance and development across Africa. Dr Forson’s honour places Ghana among a select group of countries whose leaders are being recognised for driving transformative and responsible economic policies on the continent.
The award underscores Ghana’s renewed focus on sound economic management and reinforces Dr Forson’s role as a leading voice in Africa’s finance and development landscape.
