Breaking News: Akwatia MP Ernest Yaw Kumi Arrested by National Security

The embattled Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Hon. Ernest Yaw Kumi, has been arrested by National Security operatives led by COP (Rtd.) Nathan Kofi Boakye.

The arrest took place just minutes ago, following a bench warrant issued by the Koforidua High Court after Kumi was found guilty of contempt of court.

Kumi had defied a court injunction barring him from being sworn in as MP due to an ongoing legal dispute over his election. Despite the order, he took the parliamentary oath on January 7, 2025.

His refusal to appear before the court led to the warrant for his immediate arrest.

Details surrounding his detention and legal proceedings will unfold in the coming hours. Stay tuned for further updates.
