Black Queens Crowned 2026 Pink Ladies Cup After Dominant Performances

Ghana’s Black Queens have been crowned champions of the 2026 Pink Ladies Cup after an impressive run in the tournament that saw them record two emphatic victories before their final match was called off.

The team secured the title after tournament organizers cancelled their scheduled final game against Tanzania on March 6. With six points already from their previous matches, the Black Queens remained firmly at the top of the standings, sealing the championship.

Ghana began their campaign in commanding fashion with a 4-0 victory over Hong Kong. Princess Marfo opened the scoring before Doris Boaduwaa doubled the lead. Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah and Ajegipena Zakaria later added their names to the scoresheet, completing a dominant performance that set the tone for the tournament.

The Black Queens carried that momentum into their second match against Russia, delivering another convincing 4-0 win. Doris Boaduwaa was once again at the heart of the attack, scoring twice, while Stella Nyamekye and Ajegipena Zakaria also found the back of the net to secure Ghana’s second straight victory.

With two wins from two matches and eight goals scored without conceding, Ghana’s strong performances placed them in a commanding position heading into their final fixture. The cancellation of the match against Tanzania ultimately confirmed them as champions of the competition.

Several players also earned individual recognition for their standout performances. Doris Boaduwaa claimed the Golden Boot after finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with three goals. Goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan Findib was awarded the Golden Glove following her solid performances, keeping two clean sheets during the tournament.

The victory provides a major confidence boost for the Black Queens as they prepare for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which has been rescheduled for July 25. After the successful tournament campaign, the players are expected to return to their respective clubs with renewed momentum ahead of the continental competition.
