Bawumia Pledges Relentless Push to Return NPP to Power in 2028

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed his determination to lead the party back to government in the 2028 general elections, promising to work tirelessly to secure victory.

Dr Bawumia gave the assurance on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, when a group of party delegates paid a visit to his private residence to express their confidence in his leadership and vision for the NPP.

Addressing the delegation, the former Vice President expressed appreciation for their show of support, describing it as a timely and significant step toward rebuilding the party’s strength.

“You have saved the party by your action,” he told the delegates. “The message is gone, and in 2028, they cannot use the same message against us; it will rather give us strength.”

He pledged to reciprocate the renewed trust placed in him with hard work and unwavering commitment.

“Because you have reposed your confidence in me, I will work at all times to ensure that we win power in 2028,” Dr Bawumia said. “I will not sleep. I will work day and night to ensure that I bring power back to the NPP.”

Dr Bawumia stressed that unity would be a decisive factor in the party’s quest to reclaim power. According to him, the NPP’s numerical strength gives it a clear advantage—provided members remain united and mobilised.

“When you look at the data, we have more numbers than the NDC. All we need is unity,” he stated. “In 2024, our members didn’t vote. If we are able to bring everybody on board, we can win.”

He described the party’s current efforts as the start of a new phase in its rebuilding process and called on supporters to stay actively involved.

“Our task is clear. We are moving to phase two,” he said. “I want to plead with you all to assist us in this fight.”
