The Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), Sammy Gyamfi, has assured Ghanaians that the 2025 budget will not impose excessive or burdensome taxes, signaling a departure from the policies of the previous administration.
Speaking ahead of the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy presentation in Parliament by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Mr. Gyamfi emphasized that the budget is designed to provide relief to Ghanaians. He noted that its primary focus would be on stimulating economic growth, generating employment, and easing financial difficulties for the citizenry.
“This budget offers hope—it aims to lighten the load on Ghanaians rather than increase their hardships,” he stated in an interview with JoyNews’ Kwaku Asante.
He further criticized the prior administration, asserting that its economic policies resulted in widespread job losses and stagnation. In contrast, he said, the 2025 budget will create avenues for prosperity and drive national development.
Mr. Gyamfi urged the public to remain patient, reassuring them that all uncertainties would be clarified once the budget is officially presented.
“In just a short time, the details will be made public,” he stated. “The contrast between the NDC and NPP’s governance approaches will be evident once the budget is unveiled.”
Reaffirming the NDC’s commitment to honoring its promises, he stressed that the 2025 budget embodies the party’s dedication to fulfilling its obligations to the Ghanaian people.
“The NDC stays true to its word,” he declared. “This budget will serve as a testament to our sincerity and unwavering focus on improving the lives of citizens.”
Additionally, Mr. Gyamfi underscored that a key priority of the budget is youth empowerment. He highlighted that it would create an enabling environment for young Ghanaians to pursue their aspirations, irrespective of their political affiliations.
“This is exactly the kind of budget I am looking forward to—one that uplifts the youth, fuels business expansion, and opens doors of opportunity for every Ghanaian,” he remarked.
He also expressed his strong confidence in Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, affirming that he would deliver a budget aligned with the needs and aspirations of the people.
“I am certain that my respected colleague, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, will present a budget that upholds our commitment to Ghanaians and sets the country on a path to prosperity,” he concluded.
